Surfin’ the Streets of Cardiff by the Sea

A short throwback to the Californian hippie coast and its ideal surf spots. It took almost a decade after leaving our lives in the States to come back here… on a van-life, surf-style, road-trip! The little town of Cardiff by the Sea became the new spot with it’s hilly streets and it’s long style waves, both perfect for longboarding.

Longboarding

For those who know, it’s simple… for those who don’t… it’s confusing. Longboarding is NOT a sport. It is a word to describe a style in a sport mostly amongst Surfers and Skateboarders. In the world of the surfers, shortboards and longboards are generically categorized based on the length of the board, the magic number being around 8 feet.

In the world of the skateboarders, size is not the decisive factor. Surfing the asphalt, or having a board that replicate the sensations of riding a wave, is where longboards initially come from. It is no surprise than, that southern California was where it all started. Thanks to it’s long style waves and it’s hilly streets, Cardiff by the Sea is a great place for both!
